Good Screw for a Decking JobApr 30, 2012

Please see my review and pictures of the Camo Tool, CAMO Marksman Pro Hidden Deck Fastening Tool, for further detail.
I am a home handyman, not a professional, so my opinions are based on a do-it-yourselfer's point of view.
As others have mentioned, the screw manufacturer choose to put the torx bits at the bottom of the screw packaging. Rather than dig through the 1750 screws, I had purchased two extra bits and decided to used those bits rather than dig through. That said, I used one bit for my entire job so, if you don't mind digging to the bottom of the screws, the two provided should be adequate for most decking jobs.(-1/2 Star)
The general quality of the screw itself was excellent and I experienced no stripping of the screw head. They bit well into the PVC boards I was using and snugged up to the joists with no play. I purchased some "big box store" color matched screws with name brand coating for face board screwing, and they did not hold up as well as these screws. I had also purchased some stainless steel finishing screws from a local hardware store for the trimwork and these were junk and stripped whenever thy hit real wood (so my approval of these is based on comparison of other screws actually used in the project).
In case you can not tell on your screen, these screws are GREEN. The color does not matter since they are countersunk automatically.
These screws are designed to eject the material automatically, and they did so reasonably well, but I still found myself using a box knife to trim excess board material from the hole to give it a more finished look.
These are designed for use with the Camo Marksman Hidden Deck Fastening tool. I used them exclusively with that tool, so I can not comment on their performance or application stand-alone.
In summary, I do recommend this system and it worked well for me. Since I can not give 4.5 stars, I rounded up to 5.
Info on whats included in packageMar 20, 2012

This CAMO system caught my eye as a good way to install deck with hidden fasteners. I wanted to acquire all supplies before starting job. It would be nice if your product description stated that the Torex driver bits are "included" with the screws so that I didn't make a purchase of the bits. There were 2 in the package of screws, with the two I also ordered, I have more than I will need for the largest deck.

Camo Heavy Duty ScrewsApr 23, 2012

"Tool Junkie"
As with many things, the devil is in the details. I read in the literature accompanying the Camo tool that the driver bits required to use these screws were included with the screws. They are in fact included and if you give it a little thought when packaging said drivers, where would the best place to put the drivers for the ease of the customer? Would it be on the bottom and then dump 1750 screws on top of them? What would be the first thing the customer would need to use any of the 1750 screws? You guessed it, the drivers! So why in the world would they be placed in the container first and then adding the screws to the top, making it necessary for the customer to dump the entire container to retrieve the drivers and then pick them all up and place them back in the container? Another missed opportunity to make a good first impression.
